Altrom Centre for Economic Policy is committed to building a diverse and dynamic team of thinkers, analysts, communicators, and practitioners who share our passion for rigorous, impact-driven research. We offer a broad spectrum of opportunities—ranging from paid and unpaid internships to volunteer engagements and senior expert appointments—so that talented individuals at every stage of their careers can contribute to, and benefit from, our globally respected policy work.
Seasonal Research Internships
Each summer and winter, we welcome Research Interns to join our economic policy teams. Interns assist with quantitative modelling, literature reviews, data visualization, and drafting of policy briefs under the guidance of senior fellows. These are paid positions, offering a competitive stipend alongside:
- Structured mentorship and weekly learning seminars
- Access to exclusive workshops and guest lectures by global experts
- Networking opportunities with policymakers, academics, and industry leaders
Positions are open to postgraduate and advanced-undergraduate students in economics, public policy, data science, or related fields. Interns who demonstrate excellence may be invited to return for subsequent terms or considered for full-time roles.
Journalism & Communications Internships
To strengthen our outreach, we offer Journalism Interns the chance to gain hands-on experience in crafting media materials, conducting researcher interviews, and producing timely commentary for digital and print outlets. Responsibilities include:
- Writing press releases and op-eds on current economic issues
- Curating social-media content and multimedia briefs
- Supporting media events and coordinating live-streamed panels
These paid internships equip aspiring journalists and communications specialists with a unique blend of policy insight and media production skills, preparing participants for careers at the intersection of research and storytelling.
Volunteer Research & Project Support
Our Volunteer Program invites skilled professionals and graduate students to contribute pro bono expertise in areas such as GIS mapping, advanced data analytics, foreign-language research, or subject-matter peer review. Volunteers may:
- Collaborate on multi-disciplinary research teams
- Present findings at internal seminars and external conferences
- Co-author policy notes and working papers
While unpaid, volunteers gain valuable references, access to our resource library, and certification of their contributions—a powerful addition to any résumé.
Expert & Senior Appointments
Altrom seeks to engage established leaders in their fields—economists, climate specialists, digital-economy innovators, and development practitioners—as Senior Research Fellows and Visiting Scholars. These paid positions offer:
- Full leadership of research projects, from conception through publication
- Opportunities to represent Altrom at international summits and high-level meetings
- A supportive environment for securing grant funding and publishing in top journals
We recruit on a rolling basis, seeking individuals with demonstrable impact, strong publication records, and a commitment to evidence-based policy.
